Frequently Asked Questions
During a counselling session, you’ll find a safe and confidential space where you’re encouraged to share your thoughts, feelings, and concerns openly. Together, we’ll work on building a trusting relationship, allowing you to explore issues at your own pace while collaboratively reflecting on any challenges you may be facing. Depending on your needs and goals, problem-solving techniques, or exercises to help you navigate difficult situations and cultivate healthier coping mechanisms. Goal setting is also an option, tailored to what you hope to achieve through our sessions. Ultimately, the direction of our work is driven by your aspirations and needs.
Counselling typically focuses on addressing specific difficulties or current challenges, whereas psychotherapy delves deeper into more entrenched issues. However, both terms are often used interchangeably.
If you’re feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or struggling with challenges impacting your daily life and well-being, psychotherapy may be beneficial. It offers a supportive environment to explore your thoughts and emotions, providing guidance to navigate through tough situations.
Sessions are 50 minutes long, with fees set at £55 for individual psychotherapy and £75 for parent psychotherapy or coaching. For counselling students fulfilling course requirements, the rate is £40 per session. Payments can be made via bank transfer or cash.
The duration of psychotherapy varies based on factors like the nature of your concerns, therapy goals, and your comfort level in addressing them. Short-term therapy, spanning a few weeks to months, is effective for managing specific issues or acquiring immediate coping skills, such as stress management. Long-term therapy may be needed for deeper exploration and lasting change, extending over several months or years, especially for complex or longstanding issues. Ultimately, the duration is tailored to your unique circumstances and goals, empowering you to decide the course of therapy.
